Meals & Menus
Your child’s health, safety and wellbeing are our highest priority here at Five Senses Childcare. Children's early years are a time when food habits are being developed, many of which will be retained throughout life.
Creating healthy habits from such a young age improves children’s overall lifestyle and contributes to the positive development of both their physical and mental well-being, allowing them to reach their full potential.
In keeping with the National Regulations, we ensure all food and drinks are nutritious and adequate in quantity, we take into account dietary requirements appropriate to each child’s growth and developmental needs. We ensure any specific cultural, religious or health requirements are met. Our menus are also extremely adaptable to any preferences, and our qualified cook is able to work closely with families and children to combat any eating difficulties.
We have a 5-week menu rotation cycle, to encourage children to try a variety of foods everyday they attend.
We offer:
- Breakfast
- Morning Tea
- Lunch
- Dessert
- Afternoon Tea
- Late Afternoon Tea
A variety of fresh fruit and sandwiches are also available throughout the day.
Here at Five Senses Childcare, we understand the importance of organic foods and freshly grown vegetables, which is why we encourage the children to water, and care for our veggie patch, so we can serve up fresh vegetables in our meals.
We also encourage a ‘no-waste’ system, where any food scraps are fed to our hen ‘Pecky’, who in return gives us fresh organic eggs!
Educators may manipulate mealtime settings, from indoors to outdoors to encourage sustainability by promoting a ‘paddock to plate’ healthy eating lifestyle.
Mealtimes are enjoyed in a large communal group, where children can be independent but also socialise with each other. This further develops their self-help and social skills. Most importantly these mealtimes create a sense of community and belonging.
